For three years, Associate Professor of the Practice of Art Jana Harper has been exploring empathy and the human experience through her project This Holding. In collaboration with OZ Arts Nashville, Harper was in the middle of producing a live performance of This Holding with choreographer Rebecca Steinberg and musician Moksha Sommer, when the first cases of COVID-19 appeared in Nashville–stopping production in its tracks. The team reimagined the project for the screen and brought on Vanderbilt alumnus and videographer Sam Boyette to bring their new vision to life. The result is everything This Holding originally intended to be, and more.
