Director Natasja Fourie talks about her film, Motherhood, the first episode exploring the real stories of real parents:
“Motherhood is an experimental film exploring the representation of the mother figure as both a sexual being and a lifeline for her child. In the film I wanted to challenge long-held stereotypes and sentimental views of motherhood by looking at the body and the identity of the mother. I also wanted to counter our culture’s puritanical fear of the ripe and fertile female form in a truthful moving portrait of motherhood, by questioning and disrupting assumptions without being judgmental and inviting the audience to stare and to demystify the mother figure.”
