In this episode of ‘Meet the collectors’, Art Basel visits Alice and Benjamin Paulin, the co-founders, with Maia Paulin, of Paulin, Paulin, Paulin, a family business that distributes, promotes, and preserves the works of French designer Pierre Paulin (1927-2009). In their private home near Bastille, the commitment to Pierre Paulin’s work is evident. The interior reflects the French designer’s artistic heritage, blending some of his most iconic creations, such as the Alpha sofa and the Dune ensemble, with Modern and contemporary artworks by Candida Höfer, Gustav Bolin, and Ado Sato. Artworks from the collection of Alice and Benjamin Paulin create a dialogue with the world of Pierre Paulin and make his modernity visible. The Paulins unveil a collection in their own image, inspired by the creative universe they have inherited and by their own lives; it’s a collection that ‘tells something of our history and conveys an emotion,’ says Alice.
