Jaffa Lam | Recycled materials
The Hong Kong artist’s socially-engaged practice employs the materials and people closest to her “What can artists do for society?” This is the question Hong Kong-based artist Jaffa Lam asks herself before starting on a new artwork, approaching each of her conceptual pieces as a conduit for positive change. Incorporating found and recycled materials into sculptural works and site-specific installations, her art distils the themes of labor, identity, and collectiveness, inviting viewers to engage with these critical social issues by engaging with her work.
