Olschbaur | Midnight Spill

‘Where lies the potentiality of the painting? Where is the energy going? I really like a certain tension, but I also like to arrive at a certain calmness.’ Since 2006, Katherina Olschbaur has gone on a journey from chaos to figuration and, ultimately, to abstraction (turning concrete figures and shapes into abstract forms.) She has now arrived at a destination where her works have attained a point of clarity. Intricate gradients ensure a kind of visual profundity, and familiar contexts become casually recognizable.’ – Lily Wang The artist was exhibiting for the first time in Asia at Perrotin Hong Kong, with his exhibition “Midnight Spill”.
